I just have to check in here.
I don’t have a muscle car, nor have I ever had one. This is not by choice, but what can you do?
Anyway, my Uncle John es muy rico, and he collects all kinds of cars.
When I was 14, I got to sit in the car he just bought.
IIRC, it was a 1967 Shelby Cobra GT 350 fastback. (I know I don’t need to tell you this is a Mustang.)
Metallic blue w/ a factory paint job.
Boss!
That’s a cool car, right?
He also had a '69 GTO. Fire engine red. It kicked ass.
Another one was a 1963 Split window 'Vette. That was one of my favorites.
The only other one I can remember was an Olds 442. That was a bad ass car, let me tell you.
Someday, I hope to be able to buy a muscle car. Hopefully, I can get my hands on a either a '67 Shelby Cobra GT 350, or a 68 Camaro SS. sigh
Will dream til then.
F-40 Vs. Mr2? HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA.
Need I say more?
I Drive a 1991 Mstang Lx hatchback. Not the fastest car in the world, but its mine and I love it. plus its more than enough to smoke Mr2’s and the like. I personally have only taken it up to 125 Mph (sorry Clogboy I cant think in Kph.)
Any faster and it starts to scare me.
Right now I am looking at a 1996 Mustang Cobra. which I belive has a top speed of 170. It might be able to compete with a F-40 in the 1/4 mile, but anyhting else and I would be looking at tailights.
But my dream car is still the one, the only HEMICUDA
Ive been looking for a 1970-1972 hemicuda for the past 5 years, and no luck.
Currently have a 1972 Buick Skylark Convertable…cherry red with white top. Don’t have the boot for the top, and want to get some seriouse body work done on it, but the 350 in it runs good. Originaly, I was looking for another “regular” car to run me back and forth to work, but at $1900, I just couldn’t pass this up when I saw it.
Any tips or advice on where to start re-working the engine?..any not-to-complicated things I can do myself before turning it over to a professional?
Wow, I had no idea we had real car guys (and gals!) on the board. I wish I had never gotten rid of my 1970 Mustang Mach 1. I bought it for $5000 and it was in clean condition. It wasnt’ restored, but it had been taken apart and gone throught with a fine tooth comb. It had a nice Isky cam in that 351 Cleavland and had the 4V heads. I could afford to drive though since I was a Junior in High school and couldn’t afford the 100 Octane Leaded gas.
I don’t go for the muscle car stuff myself, I have had a Triumph TR-3 back in '62 when it was still new. (That will give you an idea of my age)Later in 76 I think it was I had a MGB-GT both were stock cars and lots of fun, especially the TR-3 which was as agile as a jeep, abiet wit less ground clearance. Since I live on a small island with no real highways, big powerful cruisers are useless. At present we have a 95 mustang (4 banger with automatic & airconditioning so it sluggish to say the least) and my favourite of all the cars I have ever had is my 98 Toyota Landcruiser Prado with a 4 cylinder diesel motor. It ain’t fast but it is sure reliable and I laugh every time I fill it up. ( about ten dollars a week, in a country where gasoline costs double what it does in the states) Here is a pic, if you are interested: http://www.autoweb.com.au/page/M_toynews/article_toy9810011/autonews/article.html

I’ll second Coldfire’s comment: Cars obviously aren’t as expensive across the pond. You lucky bastards!
As for me: No car, but I ride a 1998 Ducati 748 Biposto - it’s very pretty and very, very yellow. Not exactly comfortable - especially not in traffic - but on a twisty B-road, I couldn’t imagine a sweeter vehicle. 0-100 KM/H in 3.1 sec, top speed about 240 KM/H. Only 97 HP, but it’s a V2 and there’s a rush you just don’t get with the in-line fours. And the sound is so incredibly sexy.
I know; I could’ve saved 40% and gotten a japanese equivalent, but this is just a blast of a bike - to ride, to listen to, to look at. Haven’t done any modifications yet - but one 600-mile day has made me see the benefits of a Corbin saddle.
Now, if I could only find a way to import her to Denmark when my job in Germany is over…
Blast, I’ll have to leave work early and go riding today.
Norman, I love Ducatis!! Don’t have the bike license myself, though. It is on my to-do-list, so to speak. But Ducatis are incredibly sexy bikes. Folks, click here to see what Normans bike looks like
Personally, I like the 916 Strada even better. Must be that raw power, and those extra 50 km/h…
Get cracking on that motorcycle license, Coldie, it’s FUN! You’ll be thinking up excuses to leave your car at home, I guarantee it. And a seriously fun motorcycle is way cheaper than a car of the same calibre, so to speak.
I agree on the desirability of the 916 - it’s just that German insurance rates go ballistic when you go above 100 HP. Besides, I’ll quite happily admit that I’m not getting the full benefit of my measly 97 HP - it feels like the bike is sniggering at me when I exit the turns: “I thought we were going to ride fast today ? Must be a change in plans - or is this really the best you can do ?”. Grumble.
Actually, I’d love a cool car as well - but I couldn’t afford to have both. I had an old & crappy car along with my last bike (Aprilia RS 250 - insane two-stroke rocket), but I don’t really need a car right now, and having one vehicle as a toy sure is expensive enough.
