Calling Army Arty folks - need artwork

Mods: Please feel free to move to the appropriate forum.

I am looking for a logo for the United States Army Field Artillery Branch. Specifically, the Fire Support Division, Fire Support Team. I am trying to put some magnets on my new car. I am going to print them myself. I have just gotten approval from the state to get license plates (designated with honorable discharge) and want to put decals on my car. I was a former Field Artillery member of the fire support team (3-77 Armour, 2nd Infantry Division, Stryker Brigade, stationed in Ft. Lewis, WA in case you were wondering) and cannot find a logo for the Fire Support Team.

The logo itself resembles a gloved metal fist gripping two lighting bolts with our motto on the bottom. (We are the FiSTers, and proud of it.) Fire Support Team (and, yes, I am aware of the double entendre, with a great thank you very much to Spinal Tap.)

I would appreciate any links or forwards to helping me find this artwork. I want to print these on my own, since I can’t find them from Ft. Sill (the official US Army training facility for field artillery), Ft. Lewis (my first artillery unit), or any other unit I was attached to. Google isn’t helping. Neither is Wiki. I simply can’t find the logo. In fact, the Wiki article I found wasn’t that great in providing the logo for the 2nd ID patch. I think I could find a better copy somewhere else, IMO.

By coincidence, I met a dude with a tattoo of the FIST logo on his arm. He got it at Camp Casey in Korea, but that was years ago. I’m not going to go that far for a graphic. JPG or GIF formats are preferred.

Just in case this graphic is copyrighted, I’d rather find a link to a place where I can purchase it, rather than reproduce myself. But since most of the US Army logos are in public domain, I’d rather just do it on my own.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I found this, though it doesn’t completely match your description.

Thanks. That’s close, but not quite. The basic color of the fist and lightning bolts is gold.

And there are two bolts, not one.

But thanks for the vote.

Oh PM me. I’ll try to help.

I think I have it in a black and white outline rendering at work. I can check Monday, if it would help.

Thanks for all the help. Monday will be fine.

OK. Meanwhile I’m on it. We collect militaria and have some very interesting friends with whom I’ve already shared your dilemma.

It might be available through this page, for the US Army Institute of Heraldry. They’re the folks who design coats of arms, flags and such for groups within the US government.

There’s this one, which has two bolts, but also crossed cannons behind the fist. Comes from this page.

**Dewey: ** Been there, tried that. Didn’t find what I was looking for. That led me to a bunch of Wiki pages that weren’t fruitful either. I don’t know if I mentioned it, but the logo I’m looking for wasn’t officially offical. Not on a patch or unit crest. I’m pretty sure it was just for us in the 2nd Infantry Division.

**Boyo Jim: **That’s pretty good. Getting closer. I might have to use that. Maybe I can photoshop our motto in lieu of “fire support”. Thanks.

Oh, and thanks, Boyo Jim! I was able to find a different copy of my old unit crest. It’s better in the png format than the one I have already.

Thanks!

Meanwhile I’ve been killing myself out here while you boys are buying each other beers.

I came back in to report that I was following the SS symbol now.

Sheesh I could use a neck massage.

Anyhoo–glad you found something that you can play with and create your own which is where I figured was where we were going anyway.

Cheers!

Still close but no cigar. I’d rather not photoshop stuff. I’d prefer authenticity.

Thanks again for all those who are helping and searching. I seem to have almost exhausted all my resources.

I remain beerless.

I’ll buy you a beer. For the cause.

Myself, I’m having sandwiches. I’ll make one for you as well, as long as you can make with the graphics.
