Calling Irish Music Savants...

Way back in 1994, a friend gave me a cd to borrow that was an Irish trio (two women and one man). It had great versions of Lorelei and Amazing Grace (this version began with each of them singing a line passing it among themselves before coming all together in great harmony). Like an idiot, I never copied it or wrote down the name of the group. The cd jacked had black and white pics of them in addition to their hand writing scrawled all over.

I know these are pretty common songs to find on Irish albums, but does anyone have any idea of the album or the group?

Hmm, first reply was eaten by the hamsters…

Was it a capella or were there instruments? What instruments? e.g. accordion, fiddle, flute, or…::shudder::…synthesizer;)?

Was the album professional or more rough in design like from a smaller label?

I have a vague recollection of an album that might fit the bill, but it will have to wait till I have time to go look through my old cd sleeves in the box in the closet.

I don’t recall a ::shudder:: synthesizer, but it was many bottles of beer ago… I do think there were some percussion and other assorted instruments on many of the songs, though I believe that amazing grace was acapella.

I remember it looking pretty professional, but no bells and whistles since I remember it being black and white.

Thanks for any help you can give. This has been one of those things that pops up in my mind every so often…

Hey now, Afro Celt Sound System has done good things with synthesizers and Celtic folk music.

I don’t know what album you’re looking for, but I bet if you ask your question at this site someone could help you. You don’t even have to register.

Yeah, with James McNally on the flute, you can hide a multitude of sins
