Hopefully, this question is capable of being answered. My Wrigley’s Exra sugarfree classic bubble gum claims to have 5 calories per stick. What I am interested in is when in the chewing process these 5 calories are eaten/taken into my mouth/body. Since I think gum is unique in that it is not actually eaten but chewed, I am curious as to whether my gum eating habits reduce the calorie intake for each stick. I realize that when chewing gum, juices are swallowed, but is are the 5 calories swallowed in the first few moments, or are they spread out over time? So if I stick a piece in and chew it till the flavor runs out, have I eaten all of the 5 calories? Or must I chew for an extended period of time to coax out the last few? Thank you.
