Camcorder output to a projector 500' away

I have a friend who is trying to set up a camera in his school’s gymnasium for viewing in their auditorium for overflow reasons.

We’re hoping to do this via component video, but the cable run will probably be in the vicinity of 400 feet. According to the specs I can find, component video can go about 100 feet.

I’m sure there’s a way around this. How can this be done?

You need to use some form of video amplifier.

WAG

Components, such as a VRC in the middle somewhere. Cable out from camera ‘out’---------------------- into VCR ‘in’, cable out from VCR ‘out’ ------------------------------, into VCR ‘in’, cable out from VCR out ------------------------ then to projector.

You can get RF link devices for composite video and S Video - they don’t work very well with too many walls in the way though.

Or you can get video amplifiers for the above formats too - which will easily cope with the range. Not sure about component video though.

For those interested, I seem to have found a solution.
Sort of what people were talking about
