Camping cuisine ideas

I am looking for ideas for preprepped skillet dinners for camping that can be frozen.

For example:

Cook a chunk of beef roast to rare, dice into 1/2" cubes
a couple crumbled strips of cooked bacon (because bacon is just fucking awesome)
toss in pile of frozen obrien potatos
Dice up an onion and a bell pepper
add some salt, pepper, minced garlic, maybe a splash of soy sauce, couple tablespoons of vegetable oil.

Toss all into a 1 gal freezer bag and freeze, toss into ice chest when heading out, frozen state reduces rate of ice melt (win). When its time to cook dinner empty bag into pan on camp stove, cook till done, dinner.

Guess I’m tyring to do like a homemade version of things like those skillet dinners you can buy in stores (bertolli, some panda thing, etc). But a little more down home comfort food kinda thing.

Dont mind elaborate or careful prep ahead of time, but the final step should just be skillet and plate with minimal extra ingredients.

Any suggestions?

Same idea but with next to no clean-up is a “Hobo dinner”: Do the roughly the same thing prep-wise, except wrap the packet of deliciousness in foil instead of a plastic bag. Bury PoD in burned-down coals, wait about an hour or so. Dig out an enjoy
Can also use ground meat, chicken, fish, any vegatables you like…if you don’t, or can’t, have a campfire you can cook the PoDs over a grill as well.

You can do the same thing with a premade pasta and meat sauce. After you throw it in the skillet and it starts to release some liquid, add a few handfuls of rotini or macaroni. Cook for an additional 10 minutes or so, and you’ve got essentially what equates to a campside hamburger helper.

You can use the same method but cook the noodles with the sauce and freeze the whole thing, but it seems the noodles absorb too much liquid and get mushy. If you throw the noodles in when you’re thawing the sauce, at least you can cook them to the doneness you prefer.
