What’s the best way to thaw out frozen food while camping? I like to do all of the prep for three or four servings of something at once, then freeze all but one of them for later. I usually defrost stuff by sitting it in the fridge the day before or using the microwave, neither of which is available outdoors. I’d like to be able to take prepped, frozen food with me camping since it’s a lot easier to prepare in advance, but I’m not sure how to thaw it quickly. I’m sure there’s an easy way to unfreeze it just by sitting it near/in the coals from a fire, but I don’t really know how much time to allow for it and I figure someone here would know.
Also, if anyone has a recomendation for a good book on this sort of cooking (with useful info like that and recipies) I’d be glad to have it.
(BTW, I think this is the correct forum for cooking questions, if it’s not then I hope some kind mod will move it to the correct one).
