When they married, pretty much. Except she has looked 30 forever - she looked 30 at 17 and looked 30 and 38 - and he has continued to age. But chemo put her in early menopause at 38 a few years back and its starting to take a toll. But for a few years she got to look younger than she was.
In college, I spent a semester in Tokyo. My Japanese friends mostly looked younger than their ages to me, and I looked older than my age to them (e.g., I turned 21 while I was there, and several of them expressed surprise that I wasn’t already older than that).

That’s me - although I don’t buy cigarettes. But I was getting carded for Rated R movies (!) well into my 20s. I’m in my 40s now - unfortunately I can no longer pass for 21.
The baby sister has always looked more or less her age. She was one of those 16 year olds who tried (and succeeded) at passing for 19 - and 19 year old who tried (and succeeded) at looking 22. She was “jailbait” - started drinking young with a fake ID and she was definitely in bars at 17 telling everyone in the bar she was 21 with ID to prove it. And she looked “21 enough.” No issues (until she was in her 30s and went through rehab, but that’s another topic).
Oh, man. I am not terribly good at telling anyone’s age, but people who don’t get lines are the worst. Black people, oriental people.
I was once at my kid’s middle school for something. A student was sitting there, and she was bitching about…being mistaken for a student. She was actually the student’s mother.
And I’m sitting there thinking, “And this is a problem…why?” Most women who are old enough to have middle-school students don’t mind being taken for somewhat younger (although maybe that was extreme).
She was black/Japanese. Although I will say, she also dressed like a middle-school student, that probably didn’t help…
I voted 16, but I was thinking more than just looks alone, like mannerisms and attitude. The rub is that people not only can look older, but can look younger. When most teenagers pass for older, they’re really passing for an older person who looks younger.
I’m sure it can be a professional impediment to be taken as younger, not to mention making it a lot more likely that you’ll be condescended to even by persons who know your actual age. My baby sister’s short, and the combination of her youthful appearnce and lack of height causes her some difficulty.
Which way do they skew? I’ve been seeing a thai woman, and she looks much younger than her age.
I thought my sister-in-law was under 18 when we met; she was in her late twenties. I have no idea how old her mother is and have no intention of ever asking.
And to think, every guy she’s had sex with is an irresponsible deviant.
You should never have sex with anyone who could even be potentially confused for being under 18, you know.
When I was 14, 15 and would go out with my father, most people assumed I was his girlfriend. Since I was chomping on gum and being a shrieky teenager, that helped confuse them. Maybe I couldn’t buy beer or cigarettes, but in social situations, there was enough about me that people could reasonably assess me incorrectly.
You keep changing your story. When did the scenario become only men past the age of reason spending time conversing with pre-teens (very few of which are going to look 18+ - the number of girls who look adult at a young age goes up with every year)? Can you admit that if you meet a girl who looks to be 18 or older, in a situation where’s it’s probable she’s 18 or older (say, a nightclub), and she tells you she’s 18 or older, and you DON’T engage her in conversation for any length of time, that it’s possible she might actually be 14?

Heh, probably true, but not for the reason he thinks. 
Someone once saw a photo of my dad, my younger brother, and me from when we went to visit his sister in New Hampshire. They pointed to me and said, “Oh, is that your wife?” My age in the photo? 12. (Wearing, IIRC, a t-shirt, shorts, and a baseball cap–nothing remotely approaching tarted up.)
The youngest I’ve every mistook for being an adult was 14. Back in the 90s in the former Yugoslavia, my cousin’s guerilla band had a zapper that I thought had very good manners and whow! wasn’t a raging alcoholic which in the circumstances around us was like totally a great catch in a man. I was single at the time and started dating him thinking he’s got to be 19 or 20. Really got shocked when I found out his real age.
Oh and as far as maturity level and gaging his age by conversation and life experiences, he easily outranked the average American man in his twenties.
