Suppose Newt Gingrich lived in Iowa. Could he attend the Iowa caucus and caucus for himself? Obviously, he’d be allowed to vote for himself in a regular ballot election; but since the whole point of caucuses is to debate with your fellow voters and try to change their minds, it would be a massive distraction for one of the candidates to be there speaking on his own behalf. Can an Iowa resident caucus for himself?
I don’t see why not. Who better to argue the case for caucusing for Newt Gingrich than Newt Gingrich?
