Can anyone give an explanation for Apple moving the ridges on the f and j keys?

Other than the obvious, that the people running the place are egomaniacal douchebags? I can see it now…

JOBS- The index fingers are longer in most people, therefore it is more ergonomic to put the tactile ridges on the d and k keys!

ONLY SANE PERSON IN ROOM- but those ridges have been on the f and j keys since the origin of typing! You will only confuse the crap out of people for no reason at all!

JOBS- SILENCE FOOL!
I mean really. Macs suck and all, but do they have to do stuff like that just to be annoying?

When did they do this? My old macbook has the little nubs on F and J, as expected.

My white Apple keyboard has them on the F & J keys.

Some Googling shows that there is no real standard:

Also, it appears that Apple switched from bumping the D & K keys to the f & j keys ten years ago or so.

So, I guess we know who the douchebag is, eh Stan?

This is more of a rant than an actual GQ.

If you want to insult Apple, take it to the Pit.

If you want to ask an actual question, you can open another thread in GQ minus the rant.

I am closing this one.
