Can anyone identify this location from an album cover?

Me too. Nice work Fubaya.

Amazing. Well done, Fubaya!

I said they were eucalypts

Seriously though, well found.

Yes, once you said that I did think I’d spotted a couple of gum trees there. You were the first to suggest Australia too!

Very nicely done, Fubaya.

And in fact I just checked my email and found a nice reply:

.

I’ve just emailed back to tell him that the power of crowdsourcing narrowed it down from “somewhere in the world” to a specific road in Australia in less than 36 hours.

I just can’t wait til the ladies find out about this…

“You may have heard of me, I’m kind of a big deal. I’m the one who identified Wilpena Pound in a photo on the internet” (a ‘fwump’ sound as their clothes fall off).

If I know anything about women, it’s that this scenario is 100% accurate.

No one tell them it was really pain old dumb luck.

Kudos on the detective work. Why “dingo fence mountain”?

Working my way through this thread, my first thought was “what the heck is that fence??” It seems to be a very fine mesh topped with barbed wire(?). I have never seen anything like that in North America, or in occasional visits to Britain.

Dingo fence? I see some pics on google that look like chicken wire…

Really? The fence didn’t register as anything unusual to me. I’ve seen plenty of similar fences in the British countryside. Admittedly most are just barbed wire (like this) rather than a combination of mesh and wire, but there are plenty that look very similar albeit usually with larger square mesh (example).

LOL! I hope you told him where to find us! He’d probably make a good Doper!

Wow. I’m impressed.

Because it was an odd chicken wire type fence and just to see if that was common there, I searched “Australia fence” because the last posts mentioned Australia. That search clued me into dingo fences but those can apparently be many different styles so I threw in “mountain” to see if they used one certain type in the mountains that might match ours. I was really trying to confirm Australia as a possibility based on the fence.

Dayum. Nice sleuthing.

That’s the point. A lot of fences use 4" square mesh or lines of wire to hem in cattle and horses; or very short runs of “chicken wire mesh” around chicken enclosures. many top that with barbed wire to keep out other animals, usually 2-legged. Typically in smaller fields, there is an inside run single thick strand of electrified wire. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an extended stretch of chicken wire as a fence. I suspect it’s fragile and expensive for cow control.
My first thought was “rabbit fence?” but IIRC they gave up on that in Australia?

So is the album any good?

There’s one in every crowd. Doesn’t know what’s important.

It is. It’s a career retrospective, though, so I wouldn’t recommend listening to the whole 36 tracks in one go. One review I read said that would be like trying to understand the concept of a bakery by eating its entire stock of pastries in an afternoon…

But that’s not important right now.

BTW Fubaya, that image search where you found the original pic included one copy with the file name “australie.jpg” - a clue we all missed.

Do they try to cover up, but it’s too late, you’ve seen everything?
