Specifically, I am looking for an LED clock that has numbers large enough to be read at night from a few feet away, plugs directly into an outlet, and has no other features than the clock portion.
My wife wants this so that she doesn’t have to sit up in bed and look over me at night to see the clock on the nightstand on my side of the bed. We also don’t want an LED clock, ass they are too bright (we like it DARK).
I have looked extensively on the internet, but apparently my google-fu is not up to the task. Any help would be appreciated…
Well I’m confused, do you want an LED clock or not? :dubious: Sharper Image and Brookstone have some nice LED clocks that project the numbers onto the cieling. Perhaps this is what you are looking for (or not).
I want an LED clock, not an LCD clock. An LCD clock, to be bright enough to see at night in a dark room, is usually backlit, thus casting too much light into the room.
If I’m thinking correctly, you might want to tromp down to Longs or Riteaid or someplace like that. They’ve got lots of cheapies with no bells or whistles. Just clock with numbers that light up. Have a $6.99 jobber on my TV right now.
Some good suggestions, and have seen a lot of 'em in Target, K-Mart & drugstores.
Excuse the partial hijack, this is the same sort of question, except what I’m looking for is a LED cock that has reasonably large digits, but also the seconds in addition to hour and minutes.
This used to be common, but lately have never been able to find one. As I have a heart condition, I frequently want to take my pulse at night, and now have to wait until the minute number turns over (always nearly 59 seconds after I look!), and then count for the full minjtes. With seconds displayed, only have to count for 15 seconds and multiply by 4.
I’ve scrolled through dozens of sites, but the only ones have found with seconds are battery-operated and not on all the time. I want an AC operaated one.
Thanks, cool clock all right, but if you think I can cope with calculating the time and taking my pulse at 2:00 AM with that puppy, you do me a great compliment!
The exact model probably isn’t made anymore, but this looks to be about the same as the clock I have now. Cheap and simple. The battery backup is nice, but IME usually the thing’ll go dead before the power goes out and you actually need it.
I have an Emerson SmartSet, which means it automatically sets itself when plugged in or when the power comes back on. It does have a battery backup to keep the clock and alarm going while the power’s out.
