Can anyone remember the name of this arcade game

I don’t recall. I know about 20 years ago if I saw it at an arcade I always tried to play it.

It was a game whose gameplay was somewhat similar to final fight, you had ‘3 dimensional’ fighting (which was just 2D where you could walk up or down a bit). You got to pick from any of 3 characters.

One was a black guy, I think he wore yellow pants and a yellow vest
One was a white guy, maybe wore the same outfit in blue
Third was also (I believe) a white guy who wore a red outfit like this.

From what I recall, of the 3 players there were variations in speed and strength. The guy in blue I think was really strong but slow, the black guy in yellow was fast but weaker, the other guy was intermediate in both.

You could do things like pick people up by their feet and spin around in circles, using them as a club to hit people.

Anyone recall the game?

Sounds like Streets of Rage, except that was a Genesis game. Beat-em-up games weren’t really my thing back then, so I can’t think of anything else.

That game was Rio by Duran Duran.

Nah, I thought about that too but it wasn’t that game.

LOL, I just watched the video. Well played, but no black guy.

Vendetta?

Actually, I’m like 90% sure it’s Combatribes.

You could probably find in on the VAPS website, I’ll look for it now. Sounds kinda like double dragon; but I don’t remember a black guy.

Pit Fighter?

Pretty sure thats it from looking at youtube videos. Thanks

Yep, The Combatribes. BTW, the power guy (Bullova) wore yellow, the speed guy (Blitz) wore red, and the “almighty” one (Berserker) wore blue.

That one was a blast. Completely outdid Double Dragon and the majority of Capcom’s beat-'em-ups because these guys were loaded. The giant swings were just the beginning; there were two separate throws, running attacks, four types of ground attack, and even a knock-two-heads-together move (funny as hell and did a ton of damage). The enemies were pretty capable as well; you really had to fight smart to beat them, especially on level 5. And of course, let’s not forget possibly the single most kick-awesome female final boss ever.

Yeah, I probably spend too much time with this dumb hobby.
