Can Democrats actually stop the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh?

Well, apparently Kavanaugh wanted to try. Didn’t work out too well.

Multiple plausible? I’ve heard one kinda “iffy” one.

This is what it looks like when a spoiled rich brat who’s never been told “no” their entire life actually gets called to task for their bad behavior. He and Trump really are cut from the same cloth.

Just gotta say, temperament is a significant issue in any judicial job I’ve heard of at any level. Really hard to imagine anyone who thinks this guy exhibits such.

Interesting that the Judge deposition consisted of only six sentences and was signed by his lawyer, not by him

She flat-out said she doesn’t know what it means.

The speech in question:

“That means I am approaching the 24th anniversary of my organizing 30 classmates in a bus to go to Boston for a Red Sox game and a night of Boston bar-hopping, only for us to return falling out of the bus onto the front steps of Yale Law School at about 4:45 a.m.”

“It is fair to say that we had a few drinks. Indeed, as a classmate of mine and I were reminiscing and piecing things together the other day, we think we had more than a few beers before the banquet. Might have been at Toads. Not a good idea.”

“I learned about these yearbook pages only a few days ago,” Ms. Dolphin said in a statement to The New York Times. “I don’t know what ‘Renate Alumnus’ actually means. I can’t begin to comprehend what goes through the minds of 17-year-old boys who write such things, but the insinuation is horrible, hurtful and simply untrue. I pray their daughters are never treated this way. I will have no further comment.”

He is stating that him and his buddies were honoring her friendship. So, she is flat out saying that it is not about honoring her friendship. That’s not hard to understand.

Are you suggesting it would be “horrible, hurtful and simply untrue” to insinuate that they were friends with her and thought she was a nice lady?

She damned well knows it wasn’t good. If she was an inside joke to her male classmates that’s not good.

Yes, Senator Hirono, we know you only have five minutes, that’s why he takes so long in answering questions when he even bothers to answer.

I’ve found the full quote and I’m prepared to take a crack at it:

You are misleading your readers, either intentionally or not, by claiming he was ‘trying to “piece together” the events of the previous night’. The quote is from a 2014 speech, in which Kavanaugh said " a classmate of mine and I were reminiscing and piecing things together the other day". “The other day” would seem to suggest that “piecing things together” was sometime contemporaneous to the 2014 speech, not the law school party several decades earlier.

I think Kavanaugh and Graham have succeeded at making this vote an acid test of party loyalty. That works very well for Republicans. I think that improves his odds of being confirmed, despite (or perhaps because of) his unhinged partisanship at the hearing.

Damn, the Republicans sound angry. Warms my heart.

Kavanaugh doesn’t have the temperament to be a traffic court magistrate, let alone sit on the Supreme Court. What a self-entitled piece of shit. Disgusting to listen to the GOP senators verbally fellate him in order to win the favor of the brain-dead Republican base.

Spartacus is up.

Booker kicking ass.

They keep letting Kavanaugh get away with lying that the other witnesses say it didn’t happen.

I’ll give him kudos for being somewhat even-handed: “her truth”; quoting Keyser’s quote and acknowledging that ‘that supports your statement’ (ETA: listening live, so that may not be an exact quote, but that was the gist of it) before bringing up that she said she believes Ford; etc.

God I hope Beto O’Rourke beats Ted Cruz. The man makes me cringe.
