I’ve got a good friend who just did a frame off restore of a '78 Z28. I’d love to see you in the same room telling him you wouldn’t beg to get in the driver’s seat. Just look at the prices they are getting at Barrett Jackson and how others think.
If you are ever in the Indy area please look me up… I’d love to take a ride. I just took a trip to Cincy (about 2 hrs one way) and back and got 24.8 mpg cruising at about 80. which is better than my mini van gets (except it was going 10 mph slower).
I’m sorry, but I have to strongly disagree. My wife has an '08 335ci, and while it’s pleasant enought to drive and a real kick in a straight line, and certainly sporty, it is not a sports car. It’s far too heavy and numb to be really entertaining to drive. I wouldn’t even dream of taking it to the track.
Goodness… I could have sworn it was newer than that. Shows how much I know about cars. I usually only half listen to their conversations about the cars. Usually I’m playing with their dog. She’s a sweetheart. And much more cuddly than a car.
If you decide to go with the Corvette, avoid this model:
I am very happy that this thread has changed 180 degrees from the horsepower hatefest it was on pages 1 and 2.
Fast cars are fucking awesome. If you want one and have the means, buy one. If someone wants to think you’re a tool for having one, at any age and any price-point, fuck 'em.
They don’t know what they’re missing and they don’t deserve to either.
I was totally kidding, in line with RNATB’s assertion about both cars.
Almost 70 mph through the slalom would indicate that it’s at least quasi-track worthy. But, I have to defer to you as I’ve never driven one. I’ve ridden in one.
It’s been slowly hijacked, hasn’t it?
