What kind of car would you drive if money were no object?

I’ve tinkered with a theory for years, since I was a young Psych major (before I switched to the less lucrative, but more entertaining, field of Studio Art), that the type of car you lust after speaks volumes about your personality. I’ve never narrowed my theory down by model, make, or year; just by basic ‘type’.

If money and availability (and overwhelming upkeep/repair costs) were no object, what car would you drive? Do you think that says anything revealing about your personality, or does it mean absolutely nothing?

Me? A vintage, showroom condition 1965 Austin Healey 3000, red with black leather interior. I’m not sure what it means; could be any number of things. The front end design has always made me think of a big, happy, exuberant grin.

A mini-Cooper. The one with the checkerboard.

I’d probably turn a BMW 5 series into a convertible and add some kind of mileage enhancements (efficient diesel or something).

Well, I need something that can seat 2 adults and 3 children comfortably, so I guess I’d stick with my trusty minivan. However, if we’re talking about a personal car just for me? VW Rabbit. My dad drove one for years and I love that damn car.

My preference would be for a classic older car - say a 65 Corvair Corsa convertible or a 72 Cutlass. But I’m not sure I’d want that to be my only car, both in terms of dependability and driving it in snow and salt.

So if I were only going to have one car, it would probably be a nice new Caddy CTS. Even tho you say money is no object, I don’t think I would get enough enjoyment out of anything much pricier than that.

2009 Ferrari California

Maserati… probably the Quattraporte Sport GT S.

Electric

Cars do not interest me. If money was no object, I’d spend it on something else.

Thanks for the convenient link!

An uncle returned from overseas in the 50’s with one of these–except in British Racing Green.

While it was in the shop, I’d make do with one of these. (Make mine silver, please.)

1937 Buick 4-door convertible sedan, with a backup touring sedan for cold-weather driving.

They’d be of the same model type (Special, Century, Roadmaster) and would share parts, so I’d have at least one roadworthy Buick at all times.

My personality? White, upper-middle-class, romantic, bulbous, and curmudgeonly to the point of cynicism.

Personally, I’d love to own a Rolls-Royce Ferret Mk2, but then again, the idea of going to McDonalds in an armored scout car just appeals to me for some reason.

My dream car is the 1936 Auburn Speedster:

I want the one on the right. I always wanted the one from Remington Steele.

If that’s out, then I want a Saab 93 2.0T. I drove one a few years ago and I really really liked it.

First car that’s ever turned my head from my old beat up Saturn.

I’m currently lusting after a Nissan GTR. It’s one of the few sporty cars into which I can comfortably fit.

A Ford GT. It is IMHO the coolest looking damned thing on wheels.

The Batmobile. Any of of them.

Acura NSX , only downside is it is a 2 seater.

If I had plenty of money I could also buy a regular car to use for more than 2 people.

The Mercedes SLR.

Drool

One ton dually pick up truck, extended cab, and pulling a 4 horse trailer with an down the middle, adjustable stalls and a huge air conditioned tack room. Hmmm… dreams.

I’d opt for a 193 Studebaker AVANTI!
