Can I burn a cd from a tape?

I’ve seen home components that let you burn/mix from cd to cd.

Is anything available in home equipment that will let me record from cassette tape to cd?

I suppose if you hook up your stereo to one of the line-ins on your sound card, it ought to be possible. Then again, that’s sort of a WAG.

Yes, I’ve done it numerous times, including very recently, when I copied an old tape of my grandmother singing the Messiah to a CD for my family. It’s not nearly as easy as going from CD to CD, or MP3 to CD. You need to hook up your tape player to your computer (line in), and record each song individually, so you can save them as .WAV files (.AIFF on the Mac) so they can be burned to CD. Just record them at 44.1kHz, 16 bit, stereo, and they’ll go to CD. Each file you make will be one track.
