Can I change teh default View in Windows?

This is a very mundane question, but I can’t seem to figure out how to do it on my own…

Whenever I open a new window on my computer, to look for a folder or files, the default view is set to “Tiles”, and I have to switch it to “Details”, so I can see file type, size, date last changed, etc.

Is there a way to change the default view so that it’s Details instead of Tiles?

Thanks in advance

Are you using Windows XP? If so, just open any folder and set it to details view. Then go to Tools - Folder Options at the top of the folder window. Select the View tab and you can set all folders to that same view there.
