I want to ping a server from outside my company’s network. Can I do it with my iPhone? Googling turns up a million hits for the new ping function in iTunes (bastards!) that I can’t wade through. Thanks!
Maybe search the app store for a ping app. I have Android, so I can’t check myself. There’s several in the Android market, I’d be surprised if there isn’t at least one in the iOs market.
:smack: An app called ping? Who’d a thunk it? Got it, thanks.
I’d be mildly curious to see a tracert from a smartphone, just to see what the server names are.
Jebus, I’m a geek.
On Android, you can download terminal emulator apps and use the command line. Is this possible on Iphone? Just wondering.
Detailed instructions here:
Basically, download and use the “Network Ping Lite” (free app). It apparently has ping, ping subnet, tracert (so you can satisfy KneadToKnow’s inner geek), and telnet capability.
That’s what I was looking for at first, and they do exist, but I couldn’t find one that didn’t cost more than I wanted to spend.
