I realize that this is a ridiculous sounding question.
I just got an ice cream maker attachment for my mixer. The ice cream making process takes a while, first making the base (which can take a while if it’s something that needs to steep), then cooling it in the refrigerator, then freezing it in the ice cream maker to soft-serve consistency, then freezing it the rest of the way in the freezer (if we don’t eat it all fresh out of the maker). I was wondering if it’s possible to freeze the ice cream base solid, then thaw it and churn it later, or if the ice cream will taste off or spoil being refrozen.
Also, anyone have a good molasses ice cream recipe? Now that I’m 3000 miles away from Toscanini’s and can’t get a fix whenever I want, I want to see if I can recreate gingersnap-molasses ice cream.
