Can I get back my lost cashier's check?): Please help me

Hi everyone ~~
I lost my cashier’s check last March and I went to the bank (Bank Of America) to reissue it but they told me I have to wait 90 days until I get it back
I had to leave to the USA and now I’m in another state. I went to the bank to ask them about my lost cashier’s check and showed them the exact date and the amount of the check but I was told I can’t get a refund since I don’t have the number of the check
The transaction is shown in my online banking but I don’t know if this makes any difference
The cashier’s check was supposed to be given for a landlord but I didn’t give it to him/her. I think I threw it in the garbage ugh
Is there any hope to get the cashier’s check? I need your answers PLEASE
I REALLY appreciate your help
Thanks alot

Call the branch where you got the check and find out what you can do… They should have the check number in their records, and should be able to reissue it.

You should be able to void the check and have them issue you a new one. But there’s going to be a waiting period and you’ll probably have to pay a fee.

Will they give the check’s number through the phone? I called the branch when I lost it and they said I have to come to the branch, but now I’m in another state):
Thank you for responding ^^

Do you know how long I have to wait until I reissue it?
Thank you for responding ^^

All of your issues are more or less at the whim of Bank of America. None of this is a matter of specific laws they must follow. So I doubt anyone here can tell you exactly what they must do, will do, or can do.

The best thing you can do is help them help you by having as much information as you can, being organized, and dealing directly with the branch where the problem started.

If you can’t do that, at least deal in person with the branch where you are. Go in and talk to somebody in charge at your local branch and have them call the branch where you bought the check while you’re sitting in their office. Between the two workers at the two branches they can probably bridge the gap for you not being at the original branch in person.

Some problems are a lot easier to avoid than they are to fix. Unfortunately, BofA is famous for simply not giving a shit how much consumer money they steal through simple bureaucratic obstinance. Good luck; I fear you’ll need it.

Actually it is covered very specifically in the uniform commercial code.

Details may vary from state to state. In general a 90 day wait should be expected.

Thank you so much
I went to the bank today and gave me a new check (:
