Suppose i wanted a different look…like silver or gold. Would metallic paint stick to wood siding? Would my house be cooler in the summer time?
And, how hard would it be to get gallon pails of the stuff made up?
Actually, metallic silver looks kinds nice…has anyone ever gone in to their local paint store with such a request (“I’ll take 10 gallons of silver paint, please”)?
As long as you have the paint shop mix it with exterior base, it shouldn’t be a problem getting it to stick to siding. Lasting will be a different story though. Based on looking at houses here with metallic details, (Victorian gingerbread) metallic paints will fade to dull nonmetallic in a couple of years. If you want a metallic finish to last, you need to cough up the big bucks for leaf.
On the walls, it won’t make a huge difference in staying cool. The color of your roof and amount of insulation makes more difference.
And finally, your neighbors will probably scream bloody murder if you paint the whole house metallic anything.
