Can I play my older rhapsody music on Windows Media Player

A long time ago I was getting lots of free music from Rhapsody through a promotion. The music files have the extension “.rax”. I used Rhapsody as my primary music utility because of this. Now I don’t get free music from Rhapsody any more so I quit them, but I can’t play my older music anymore without booting rhapsody. I can use Rhapsody to load these on my Samsung adio player, but I would like to migrate away from Rhapsody altogether, because otherwise the program does not work very well. Thanks.

I can play my Rhapsody tracks with Windows Media Player, but my situation is a bit different:

  1. I still use Rhapsody as a subscription service, so my licenses are current.
  2. The tracks have a .wma extension.

Are your tracks purchased tracks or subscription tracks? If they are DRM free, you should be able to convert then some way.

Only my older rhapsody tracks have the .rax extension. They are purchased tracks, not subscription tracks. They migrated away from the .rax thing after a while, I think. I think I have only one “subscription” song. I did that once by accident.

I was going to suggest that you go to the Real message boards, but I see now that they are no longer active (and that does not make me happy, there were some helpful folks there). I’m going to poke around a bit more to see if I can find anything.
