Can I post a picture along with a question?

Is there a way I can post a picture along with a question on this board?

Inline, no.

You can link to a picture, though.

BTW, this would be better off in ATMB.

Is there a website that I can upload a picture to and link to it from here?

If your ISP gives you webspace, you can upload it there and link, or you can use one of the many image-hosting sites on the web, like ImageStation or PhotoBucket.

Thank you for the help. I have one more question though. I have posted pics at photobucket.com. The links to them are very long. Can I link to them from the “Straight Dope” using a single “word”, instead of typing in the whole link? If so, can you explain how? Thanks again.

Sort of, but not really. The entire link is needed for someone to actually get to the picture. However, you don’t have to type it in. Just copy and paste it.

Also, you can make it look like one word in your post. For instance, I could put up a link to http://www.google.com/ or I could put a link to Google. They both go to the same place, but I made the second one by typing:

Google

Ack! The forum ate my coding. Let me try again. The very bottom example should be:

Google

Heres one that i’ve used. http://www.walagata.com/

You should also know about TinyUrl.com which creates a unique, tiny URL for you out of a long unwieldy URL you give it. Also nice for emailing links to people without having to worry about wrapping.

Here is my shot at trying to link to www.google.com using an alternitive “key” word.

test link to google

GREAT…IT WORKS. Thanks for all the help!

I have posted my other question (and links to pics) at “In my Humble Opinion”, “Are these bills worth anything?” If you know about bank notes, check it out.

Since the question has been answered, I’ll close this thread. For future reference, questions about this message board should go in the ATMB forum.
