Can I reconfigure my Sierra Wireless when TWC ends mobile services?

Time Warner Cable sent me $100 Visa card to say thanks and so long to your mobile internet on May 1.

I have a Sierra Wireless Hotspot that is in perfect working condition and after May 1 I will still need mobile internet. Does anyone know if I will be able to use it with another carrier? Seems a shame in multiple ways to consider it trash.

I live in Los Angeles, by the way, and I use T-mobile ultra cheap prepaid for my phone service. ($15 per month unlimited text and 10 cents a minute talk… not even offered anymore!) I have no need for serious mobile service at serious rates, I just need to know that I can, if necessary, look up an address or phone number online or make a quick paypal transfer or something a couple of times per month. My TWC service was costing me $10, and that was about right for what I needed and actually way over for what I really used.

So…any ideas?

By the way, I used the $100 from TWC to pay part of my bill… would that be paying backward?

From what little I’ve Googled, we’d need a little more information, as there are multiple models of hotspot. In general, they can be unlocked, but there are more than one type of wireless Internet, and making it work on another provider depends on which type the hotspot uses.

Unlocking would be similar to how you get a cell phone unlocked. You might be able to get Time Warner to unlock it since they are no longer providing the service. Or you might be able to find instructions for unlocking your particular model online.
