Can I train myself to be less anal retentive?

Roadlizard, I think you can consider yourself whooshed!

You know, I really, honestly, and truly was just like the OP until a little while back when I started dating a woman on the other side of the city. In that we spend every other night at her place, you’d think my place would be super clean and all would be well, right?

Nope.

I get home to my place and all I want to do is maybe watch a little TV, make some dinner, play on the PC for a bit, maybe read. I simply haven’t the energy or attention span to be bothered with the specific details of exacting cleaning and ordering anymore.

Sure, my CDs are still in alpha-order, broken into genres, as are my DVDs, and my clothes are all folded neatly and in their correct drawers, but I have a pile of (paid) bills I haven’t reconciled in MSMoney, dishes might sit out for two or three days before being cleaned and then put in the dishwasher, laundry went from a few times a week to a bunch of loads once a week, etc.

I haven’t worked on my classic car in ages, despite having taken it out to the Cruise-In and car show in town last weekend, either. Priorities change, and just like that, OCD things become very much less important.
