Can I use my Olympus Stylus 710 sort of like a webcam?

Here is my problem. Sometimes as reference photos for my paintings, I need to take pictures that I’m either in or where I need to be holding/manipulating something so that I can’t be the one to push the shutter (and often there isn’t someone else available). Generally, the 10-second timer built in isn’t long enough to get everything ready, plus it then only takes one photo, where I’d like to have several in a row to choose from. I have webcam software that will take photos at intervals and save them to the hard drive, which would be ideal except that my webcam doesn’t take high enough resolution images, really, to make it worth it.

So I was wondering if there was any way to get my digital camera (Olympus Stylus 710) hooked up to the computer somehow to take serial automatic photos…? Anyone know, or have ideas?
