If she had said that she hates nigger monkey men, would the conservatives still support her? If not, why not?
Because, since the rightist didn’t win the contest must have been fixed. This is the exact same thing as the teabagger rage (with both being pushed by big money interests, naturally). Democracy is always the answer, as long as everyone votes the way the rightists think they should have voted.
Otherwise they throw a tantrum, sob in a corner, and turn on a couple hours of Fox News to make the sadness go away.

I suspect that any answer other than an endorsement of gay marriage would be considered equally “divisive”.
‘Everyone gets to decide for themselves, but I choose differently from you’ is divisive?

Shodan
If only she’d said, “This is America and every should be able to choose however they want,” and left it at that, nobody here would even know her name, let alone how she showed off her ta-ta’s on film after proclaiming herself a such moral Christian woman.
Kudos.
Well shit Bricker what fun is that?
Seriously, way to man up.
Congratulating **Bricker **for acknowledging he’s been acting like an ass is something like giving a special-ed kid a gold star for not pooping his pants in class.
Real classy.
Everyone has their limit at which they get sick of having to encourage him to rise to meet ordinary social norms, and to fawn all over him when he seems to be catching on (it never sticks, because it is never sincere). You seem not to have reached your own limit yet.
God, you’re a prick.
Let’s leave religion out of this, huh?
You do want to discourage the pants-pooping, right?
Only in class.
That would be the “pro choice” opinion, everyone is free to live how they want without goverment inerference. If everyone gets to decide for themselves, same sex marriage would be allowed.
Instead, she said she doesn’t think it should be legal, which means she doesn’t think it should be allowed. Her belief is that you are not free to choose what she doesn’t agree with. That is divisive.
Right - like I said, any answer other than an endorsement of gay marriage is considered divisive by proponents of gay marriage. But, since support for gay marriage is not unanimous, coming out in favor of gay marriage would be likewise divisive.
As mentioned, liberals support all kinds of diversity, except diversity of opinion.

Shodan
Does it hurt to contort like that?
Shodan, you do know that legalizing gay marriage doesn’t mean you have to have one, right?
“Endorsement of gay marriage” smacks of explicit approval. I can believe that gay and lesbian couples should be able to marry without approving of their marriages, though, because I’m cool like that.
For that matter, I also believe straight people should be able to marry- even you- but I don’t approve.
It’s not that I disapprove. It’s that I don’t give a fuck. Granted, there are people who do actually give a fuck, and if Prejean answered as one of them would answer, she’d be endorsing gay marriage. She could just have adopted the middle course, however, which would be to acknowledge that it’s up to the states to decide.
You should have stopped here, because you have kind-of a valid point. The question would be difficult for any Miss USA contestant, regardless of her feelings on the subject, because whatever answer she gives is bound to offend someone and could adversely affect her shot at the title. Similarly, asking about her views on abortion or capital punishment or immigration. I suppose conceivably a sufficiently quick-witted contestant could respond in a manner that was strong but nuanced and even if a judge disagreed, the judge might respect her well-expressed views (and give her points for “poise”). I don’t know if I could come up with such an answer on short notice, especially if I was expecting a more vapid question like my views on world peace, so I don’t fault Prejean for what she said at the pageant, but rather for what she said later on when she had time to compose her thoughts.
And this is where you compulsively undermine yourself by trying to play the victim. There are plenty of examples of conservatives engaging in this kind of behaviour with circumstances far worse than what happened to Prejean.
Yeah, but conservatives don’t support any kind of diversity, so it’s okay if they do it.
Bullshit. Being against intolerance is not a form of intolerance.
