Personally, I don’t doubt that the encounter went pretty much as described.
That said, I struggle to find any reason to accept his interpretation of it as conclusive proof* that the ideas of liberals are generally stupid and worthy of nothing more than dismissal. Sure, he points out that pictorial evidence shows him to be innocent of the accusation of using a gasoline-powered lawnmower.
The woman’s attention to detail can obviously use some work. But if later on during her jog she were to encounter another resident actually USING a gasoline-powered lawnmower, and treated that resident to an identical scolding, her criticisms would have been entirely on point.
One imagines that if she HAD noticed the zero (direct)-emissions nature of Clothy’s lawnmower, yet still felt an urge to chastise him, she would have done so on the basis of the resource-wasting character of lawns in general. Which ALSO would not have been stupid, per se.
No, whether Clothahump is a liar and/or a troll is a secondary issue. It may well be that he is simply too stupid to recognize a poisoned well when he sees one (because that excerpt that he chose to put into his OP is inarguably and patently a poisoned well, even without getting into the distinction between actual conservatism and whatever is being advanced as conservatism there).
I assert that “Okay, I just might have won my own thread” is a claim that he has demonstrated his thesis.*
N.B.* to Clothahump: “demonstrated his thesis” means “proved his point.”
***N.B. is an abbreviation for the Latin phrase Nota bene, which means “Note Well”; the idea being that I’m directing your attention to it, so you have a better chance of understanding it.
