Load of lies? Really? Let’s just take this one to start:
<<Conservatives tend to be capitalists. Liberals tend to be socialists.>>
Show where that is incorrect, please.
It wasn’t a Pit post by any stretch of the imagination. I read an article that I thought raised some reasonable questions. I posted it for comment. Apparently the thread got moved to the Pit so everyone could freely call me an cunt or a deranged lunatic for daring to post it.
Clothahump however, is just a childish troll. I feel sorry for whoever he is eating Thanksgiving dinner with. I’m guessing it will be a small
gathering. I can’t imagine there are many people that do it twice.
We have an abundance of conservative posters on this board. At least half the board is conservative by any reasonable definition of the word. Clothy is one of those people who thinks “conservative” and “liberal” are defined by the Overton window, when what he and his ilk are more like retro-reactionaries. Fuck these bogus definitions of polarities.
Precious Snowflake, that was pure trolling, which you are well aware of. While I think you’re stupid and blind enough to actually believe some of that nonsense, your purpose wasn’t to “invite comment,” it was to piss people off. And lying about your intent doesn’t fool anyone, it just makes you a liar.
No. The thread was moved because the level of dishonest well poisoning in the OP was designed to prevent a legitimate discussion.
Given the number of attempts at action by Presidents Bush (II) and Trump that have been shot down by an increasingly conservative court, a claim that Conservatives “believe in” the Constitution is not supportable.
There are “liberals” who mock Far Right political religionists, and a few who mock all religion, but a claim that “liberals,” as a group, mock Judea-Christian values is stupid given the number of religious groups that promote liberal policies and the number of conservative groups that oppose such values.
More nonsense. Folks on the Left might point out that the only time “love of country” comes up in discussion is when someone on the Right wants to send kids to a foreign country to kill the inhabitants and assert power and steal resources. And it is the Right that tends to promote the Confederacy, hardly an example of patriotism.
I do not even know a liberal socialist, although I know many liberals. Heck, even Sanders is a capitalist. He just wants to stop the welfare handed out to major corporations.
Alternatively, conservatives are fine with police judging (and harassing and executing) people based on the color of their skin.
And so on.
There are legitimate differences between the general attitudes of conservatives and liberals that are worth discussing. Opening a thread with a link to a set of lies about what each group believes is not the way to have that discussion (or debate).
I noted earlier that such a discussion would be welcomed in Great Debates. There are no “reasonable questions” raised by the lies of a right wing talking head, whether it is John Hawkins or Ann Coulter or anyone else.
Do they only post in the Games room?
I would guess that I am regarded as liberal by all but the most vitriolic Left wingers, but I would never claim that the numbers of the Right are equal to the numbers of the Left, at least in Great Debates and Elections.
The claim there is that Mick Jagger dissed GWB by not turning his hotel suite over to him. The Stones had booked the suites weeks in advance for a concert. And Clothy pretentiously asserts that he’ll defend the office whether or not he likes the man.
But compare that “dissing” with what Clothy aims at Obama:
And Clothy jumped on every anti-Obama bandwagon FauxNews told him too, for example:
Clothahump disapproves when the Presidency is dissed? Yet instead of defending the Presidency from Sick Ates’ psychotic attack, Clothy piles on!
(Sick Ates, FauxNews, and even Clothy shut up when photos were shown of both Bushes and Reagan standing under Marine-held umbrellas.)
