Depends on exactly how you define right and left; if it’s simply “D” and “R” then sure, but there are a lot of conservative Democrats on the board, who very much favor the established order, only support ‘left’ issues (like gay marriage)when they are at majority or near-majority status, don’t have very deep understanding or respect for minority issues (including things like sexual harassment), and favor ‘good for corporate, bad for people’ ideas like the TPP. A lot of them don’t appear to have even come close to being exposed to the far left, they don’t even believe that people who rant about cultural appropriation or similar issues even exist. IMO the strongest contingent on the board seems to be old Democrats who think of themselves as being on the left but really aren’t.

Conservatives and liberals are both in favor of progress. Conservatives just want it to happen at a measured pace, while liberals tend to embrace it more enthusiastically. Conservatives want to live in 2017, while those others, the RWs, want to take us back to the fifties – of some prior century that does not seem to be the most recent one. I think we have plenty of actual conservatives on this board, but they tend to seem more reasonable and less shouty than the RW reactionaries who have turned “conservative” into a punchline.
The leftwing in this country thinks screaming at the sky because Trump is president is a thing.
They also have a significant segment of their ranks who believe donning black hoods and beating up right-wingers is legitimate.
