Can Scott Walker be re-elected Governor of Wisconsin?

Looking forward to sending crow recipes to Shodan.

Maybe you have some leftovers from the Kerry victory. They freeze well.

So the SDMB liberal cheerleader team spends five months assuring each other that Walker won’t win and will be indicted.

Then there will be a week after the election to discuss how Walker stole the election.

And then we’ll have a new thread about how NOW Walker will be indicted for suresies.

This way, the bulk of time is spent contemplating sunny fantasies, and only the briefest, absolutely necessary time is allotted to the real world.

Which, now that I think about it, is pretty much a description of liberals, period.

Well, the topic of the thread has at least been answered. Scott Walker certainly CAN be reelected. Now Tom Corbett, not so much.

The fact is that Wisconsin overall is not at all like Madison or the near northeast side of Milwaukee. It’s an insular state full of vestigial ethnic enclaves (Norwegians in Dane County, Swiss in Green County, Poles in Rusk, etc.). They don’t like Black people: when times were good pre-70’s stagflation these small towns deliberately turned down growth to keep them from coming up from Chicago. (And, as I Facebook with my old classmates, I see that the tradition of getting great educations at the UW system, then having to seek careers out of state will only continue.)

They talk about jobs, jobs, jobs; but really don’t want change. That’s a recipe for those jobs to be dead-end minimum wage. They are a state full of mean little people, and they like their mean little governor. Texas cursed with snow instead of blessed with oil. And recalling how they worshiped the philosophical claptrap of Vince Lombardi, I’m not surprised that that of Ayn Rand has found similar purchase.

Shodan and Bricker, do you want some cheese with that whine?

So it’s possible but in my opinion not certain that Walker could win. I find it incredible that such a scumbag could possibly win a second term but in the end the voters get the government they deserve.

And where is Walker getting the message that $7.25/hour is a “living wage”?

The Wisconsin Restaurant Association.

Apparently, unlike you, I can face facts. In 2012 were you saying Romney would win in a landslide on October 31st? The way Rove and Faux News were? Hmmm?

Look at the comment I made when posting Rassmussen poll last week. I said I trusted the Marquette poll more. I do because they were so accurate in 2012. Nothing doctrinaire, just facing facts.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel endorsed Walker in both 2010 and 2012.

This year they declared they were done making endorsements. But for a neutral paper, this editorial is pretty strong.

One suspects the owner and the editorial staff do not see eye to eye.

Burke’s history at Trek bike has come under attack over the last week, or so. This is what the paper has to say about that.

Attack on Mary Burke: Consider the source

  • and several more similar paragraphs.

Then concludes:

Curious how the Republcans have been defending against “our guy is screwing things up (right now)” with “their candidate used to do bad things”.

No. I did say:

You haven’t seen any of that from me. I believe that Walker will be abducted by aliens in the middle of his victory speech.

Why would they abduct one of their own double agents? Walker is only there to serve man.

Probing. Please, Lord, let there be probing! And videos!

Have you no decency sir? Think of the children. No picture of any kind of any politician unless he/she/it is fully clothed.

That editorial is just a series of ad-homs, with no actual rebuttal of the points made. It wouldn’t even fly as a post on this board.

The former COO and HR director may indeed have axes to grind against Trek, but that is not proof that they are wrong.

No one is saying Burke used to do bad things. They are saying she is unqualified.

Are you kidding - they’d eat it up like fudge.

Shodan

Not what her brother said.

What exactly are you responding to here?
