I set up an account on the Teeming Millions website many, many moons ago. I even posted my profile. After a loooong stretch of time not checking in on it, I just yesterday took a gander at the site. I decided to update my profile, but alas was asked for my password - which I couldn’t remember. I tossed out my usual online passwords, to get an “invalid” statement each time. On the toolbar, I happened to see a “login / logout” link, which I clicked on: I got a page that stated “you are now logged out.” Thanks a lot.
Exasperated, I tried to open up a brand new account - on the offchance that my account was deleted after so many months of disuse. Nope. I typed in my email address, and got a statement saying that I already had an account on the site and couldn’t open a second one. So, now I can neither get access the site with my old ID & password (both of which I’ve forgotten), nor can I open up a new one.
Many sites have a forgotten password option, in which you can provide them with your email address, and they can direct you to a page wherin you can update that info. If the Teeming Millions has such a feature, I can’t find it. So, I am pleading to the Straight Dope intelligentsia for help - is there some way I can find / change my old, forgotten, password with a new one?
And yeah, I know I should have written it down somewhere. I think when I opened up my account I did, but have lost that piece of paper along the way. If I can correct the situation, I will indeed keep better track of it.
