My son has found a job. He said the future employer is strangely unforthcoming about what the job involves, but he is planning on going to orientation on Tuesday, while at the same time not ruling out any other potential jobs.
I have three interviews - all with law firms - over the next four days. I am already exhausted from interviews (like that’s a bad thing) but am a good sport, and one is with one of the most employee-friendly law firms in the city in beautiful Downtown Madison.
Birthday-wise - I got a beautiful b-day card from my wonderful former mother in law. She obviously still loves me and is sad about our “ex” status, and hopes she is not an “out-law.” I will write her this weekend.
Thanks everyone so so so much for your fun stuff. Laughter and tears both. I am SO appreciative.
As a kid I visited my mother every summer at her country home in Canada. One year I got a bad bug and ended up with a horrible case of the trots so bad, that on a certain rainy night I didn’t quite make it to the outhouse. Yeah, I pooped my pants. Anyway, I was so embarrassed that I cleaned up and hid the evidence behind their big bench freezer where it stayed unnoticed for weeks, and then I went home to the States and forgot all about it.
Last week out of the blue she emails me: “When we sold the chateau we found your Underoos.”
My fortunes have improved vastly since last I checked in. I was offered and accepted a position last week, started on Wednesday. Small law firm, two attorneys and me (no office politics). These guys are wonderful! The whole “feel” of the place is a complete 180 (if not more) from the last employer. I wish I could share some of what I experienced at my last employer that caused literally constant anxiety, but there wouldn’t be enough space. This employer has none of the hangups that caused all that dysfunction at the former.
From the bottom of my now-happy heart, I want to thank all of you for your wishes and your funnies. Honestly, that did more for my heart than you can ever imagine, unless of course you have also had your hand held, even if it’s a virtual reach out.
I can’t remember who posted the Scissors Sister video, but I find myself going back to it, over and over again. El Sid Viscoso, I laughed at your story about your Underoos until I had tears running down my face! But I thank each and every one of you with all the warmth in the world!
bbs2k, and thank you for all of your contributions!
Belated happy birthday!
I forgot to add - I am making $3k a year more than my last job, with a review and likely raise in 60 days. So, my former employer, you can now kiss my lily white a___!
