Can someone help me ID this light jazz/easy listening song?

Okay, this is going to be pretty vague, and for that I’m sorry. There is a song that I have heard a few times, but always in a restaurant or store, so I can never make out the lyrics very clearly. It’s a female singer, possibly Diana Krall, but I’m not sure. This woman’s voice sounds a bit lighter and softer than what I remember Diana’s voice to be. It’s a kind of easy listening type song, and there is a flute solo near the end. At least I think it’s a flute.

The tune kind of goes like this:

Do do do…do do do

(then a little faster)
Do do do, do do do

And, I did get just a few lyrics when I heard it today…

Someone to…do do do

Someone to, do do do…
I wish I had more, but I’m afraid that’s it. I’ve always wanted to know who sings the song though, and I would greatly appreciate any help.

Someone To Watch Over Me by George and Ira Gershwin would be my guess.

I can’t help with the specific version you heard, but it’s a standard that has been recorded by most of the major jazz singers past and present, and pop singers as well.

I googled that, and it’s not the song. The song I am thinking of is much more upbeat. I’m aure if you could hear me hum the tune it would be a dead giveaway, but obviously that can’t happen. Thanks for trying though.

In case anyone cares, I finally found this song. It’s called So Nice (Summer Samba) by Bebel Gilberto.

It’s a good example of Bossa Nova which was popular in the 60’s and beyond. If that tune catches your fancy you might look for others of the genre.

Dunno how I missed this thread, but I would have known it just from your description in the OP.
