I am trying to install this file, binkw32.dll- But I have no clue where it goes. Anybody know how to install dll files? Or reccommend me a website?
Most of the time they either go in the folder with the application that uses them, or in the C:\Windows\System folder. Either place should work.
…and if you’re just copying a DLL to its destination folder (as opposed to putting it there as part of a more formal program installation process), you may have to register it using the REGSVR32 program:
regsvr32 c:\windows\system\flubadub.dll
(Don’t bother with this step unless merely copying the DLL to its destination folder didn’t do the trick.)
What’s the program that uses binkw32.dll? Did you put it in a net search box to see if it shows where it’s supposed to be?
Don’t computers look in the root directory first? You could try putting it there maybe, but it seems odd your install program didn’t install it.
Its for a game I have called Tropico- it just disapeared on me
Ok I have put this Dll file everywhere and I am lost- still says its not found
Where did you get the .dll file you are using. And is it the correct version?
start menu->run
type cmd (or command if you are running windows 95-ME)
in the black window type path =c:\windows\system
put the file in c:\windows\system
see if that works (I am not sure myself. This is an experiment)
type “path =c:\windows\system” without the quotes.
(it wasn’t clear in my reply weither ‘path’ should be typed.)
I put that file name in a search engine, which I always do:

Answers this question:
Someone gave me a CD with some EXE files on it. When I try to run the files the computer tells me that I’m missing “BinkW32.dll”. I’ve found the file and downloaded but I don’t know where to put it or what it’s for. I’m running Win ME. Can anybody help?"
