Can someone ID this fantasy book?

Been trying to remember this book I read when I was a kid, where all the gods of all the different pantheons existed, but they couldn’t agree on who got to control the world, so they each picked mortal champions, put them all in one place, and made them kill each other to see which god got to be in charge

I’ve been thinking about that book for years because I can’t remember the title and I can’t find it anywhere. Might have been YA. I only remember the barest scraps of the plot.

It sounds like Champions: At fire’s end by Charlotte Jain, but that’s a recent book. So probably not.

I think that’s too recent, but thanks for the suggestion.

There are vague resemblances between the plot you give and that of Lord of Light by Roger Zelazny. That’s old enough, but otherwise it’s not really close enough to what you describe. You can decide if it has any connection or if I’ve just wasted your time:

On first glance it doesn’t sound like it, but I will read up on it.
