Have you read The Salvation War before? If so, what are some similar books?

So, if you haven’t read it, it’s a great book by Stuart Slade where two two groups of beings: the demons and the gods decide to invade modern earth. I will just give out
a brief and very vague summary of what happens in this novel without any spoilers:

The demons invade first, with a massive army and the ability to teleport lava rivers ontop of human cities and also they have very powerful psychic powers that can control anyone one earth!

Then after they invade, the gods also invade and they have powerful weapons such as trumpets that can shoot down jet fighters. There is also a part where the humans try to nuke heaven, but the gods are too intelligent and they make the humans accidentally nuke themselves.

It is a very thrilling and powerful novel, and you just cannot tell what’s going to happen next.

But does anyone know of any similar books? I really love the HFY tone of this book, and I love how the author demonstrates and explains how the weapons systems work decently well, and I love how the angels and demons react and how they think when they’re invading. They act, I think, very realistically for how they would act in real life.

Thanks.

I read it as it was put out online, but only the first two. They were entertaining up to a point - all the military tech stuff isn’t my bag - but I don’t know of anything else quite like them.

…y’ever considered checking out [? They have a healthy forum section with ongoing althist works, and one neatly subdivided by historical section (pre- or post-1900), exotic impossibility of the premise (most of the “Island in the Sea of Time” or “ISOT” scenarios, i.e. where an entire region is suddenly transplanted through time and/or space), and one for scenarios set in fictional universes, many of which aren’t even Game of Thrones.

TV Tropes, of course, [URL=“AlternateHistory.com (Website) - TV Tropes”]has a listing of a number of notable stories that spawned on their forums](https://www.alternatehistory.com[/url). Some are quite extensive, and might be right up your alley.

Just be sure to keep your nose clean and follow their forum rules, and you’ll probably fit in fine.

Been a while since I read this one, but it seems to fit
