Can someone please adopt my 2 catz?

I am not sure if this is the right forum for this. If not, mods please move it to the appropriate one.

I have had these two lovely cats both about 4 yrs old. I had adopted them from the local SPCA, when they were kittens. I am now having to move to a new country and I can’ t take them with me. Can any of you cat loving dopers be kind enough to adopt them? I do not want to give them back to the SPCA as the first option. Also the local SPCA is full and not taking in any more cats at the current time.

The cats are spayed and chipped. They have been trained for manual nail clipping and sit quietly through the process that ends with them getting rewarded with treats. They are quiet, loving and not temperamental at all.

I can drive them down if the person/family that adopts them is in the vicinity, and by vicinity I mean upto a radius of approx 800 kms around Toronto including the states in the US. If farther than that, I am willing to have them shipped using one of those professional pet shipping agencies and I will bear the cost.

It will be nice if they can go to the same home since they have always been together and are very good friends.

Here are some pictures of them: Pics

Poop. The Boy has forbidden me from bringing any new fur-kids home, as he insists that two is the maximum we’re allowed to have. I think he’s afraid that I’ll slip into Crazy Cat Lady territory, which usually excludes a human life-partner (ie. him).

Can I assume from your post that you’re located in/around Toronto? If so, I can pass around the word locally, as I’ve got a few acquaintances that have mentioned they are pondering the possibility of adopting a kitteh or two.

That is right. I am in Hamilton. I will indeed appreciate the gesture and any help that you might be able to give in finding a good home for my furries.

Oh and I forgot to mention - they are indoor cats only. Until now they have spent all there life within the confines of my apartment except the occasional supervised access on a leash to the balcony.

Oh, I wish I could - and if I didn’t think the whole shipping them to me might be too traumatic, I would - but I’m in Tucson, about 3600 km away, so hopefully you can find someone closer.

But they look like sweet kitties!

Oh, they’re pretty. I’m all full-up, as I have 3 now, but I hope you find them a good home soon.

Uh-oh, I better not show my wife your pix…

Although there’s less than 1/10th of 1% chance we could do it, a few questions:

Do they use a scratching post or something else currently? Do they roughhouse with each other or with you, or are they fairly mellow? Although they’re indoor cats, do they try to get out or are fairly content and incurious about the great outdoors?

We have an indoor girl who was already declawed when we adopted her, so I doubt we’d be able to take them because they wouldn’t be evenly matched so to speak (and she’d be outnumbered), but I still thought I’d ask…

my SO said sure - ship 'em out to us … I’ve been suggesting adopting a cat or two.

If you dont find anyone local, we would love to give them a home - they are adorable!

Yay, kitties get a home!

I wish I could’ve volunteered. Look like sweethearts.

Have you tried your local Craig’s List? It is an excellent place to try to rehome pets locally - free, no account needed. Before you ship them, give it some time on CL.

Yay I am glad they already have a home. I wanted to consider it as one of them looks exactly like my cat Bob. They could be twins. I think nine is enough though.

I have a cat I adopted and he is front declawed. He was brought in to our house that has eight clawed cats. Trust me when I say he holds his own very well. His lack of front claws has not in anyway given him a disadvantage.

My mother also adopted a declawed cat, all four paws, and he handles himself very well with her seven month old kitten with claws.

Don’t count out a declawed cat as unmatched. They can adapt very well.

It is not like the other cats are in on the fact that he does not have front claws. They probably think his left hook is so powerful he just does not use them
