Can someone recommend a good facial wash?

My boyfriend has the most sensitive skin EVAR and he’s constantly running into issues trying to find a decent skin care product without paying through the nose.

Can anyone recommend a good daily facial wash/cleanser for somewhat dry, incredibly sensitive skin?
Thanks!

Try BioTherm’s BioSensitive. It is a face milk - hopefully yer beau isn’t too macho to use it.

For very dry skins, the gel type clensers (along with just about any sort of soap) are much too drying.

Also, he should use a good moisturizer after he washes - there’s one in the BioSensitive line that’s great for sensitive skins.

Cetaphil. I have extremely sensitive skin and I won’t use anything else.

Plain ol’ glycerine or castille soap would probably be good. Both tend to be moisturising without being oily. My skin is super-sensitive & I’ve been using Desert Essence face wash (castille + tea-tree oil) for several years with no ill effects.

Just a thought - I’ve noticed the chlorine in my local water actually causes some skin-drying. Have your boyfriend try washing with filtered water & see if that makes a difference. You can even get a filter for your showerhead if you find chlorine is causing the dry skin.

I second that. It’s also quite affordable.

Blonde

i use cetaphil, too.
turns my skin to silk!

Also, make sure he rinses thoroughly. Even a mild cleanser can irritate if it’s still left on his face. I second the Cetaphil.

I like Cetaphil and Neutrogena products. But available at your drug store and not too expensive.

I forth the cetaphil recommendation.

Aww, I thought I’d be first to mention Cetaphil! Really, it’s fabulous. You can rinse it off with water or just wipe if you want a little extra moisturizing.

My mother also has sensitive dry skin and found things greatly improved when she bought a water softening shower head and started washing her face in the shower. She uses the Almay Kinetin line.

Cetaphil (do I hear an echo :D) When I need a little extra cleansing, I add a little bit of baking soda to the liquid Cetaphil for a mild scrub. I have dry skin as well, and sometimes the problems arise from not getting the old skin off my face. Inexpensive and effective!

Mary Kay, believe it or not, has a whole line of skin care products made expecially for men’s skin. The bottles and soaps are grey, not pink, and ‘Mary Kay’ is not mentioned anywhere on the containers so you can still feel manly. I use and am very satisfied with the face soap, moisturizer, shaving cream, oil mattifier, etc. Contact your local Mary Kay consultant for details. It’s not too expensive, either.

I really like the Neutragena type in the pump (blue or white bottle). Everything else makes me break out. I also like their moisturizer in the pump, with SPF. They have a sensitive skin formula of just about everything.

However, I might have to try Cetaphil now.

I was gonna suggest Mary Kay too but Nate beat me to it …

Yardley(sp) oatmeal soap. It’s a bar soap and only costs about 99 cents at Walgreens. I bought it for my face but have started using it for my body also instead of the bath gels. I can’t believe how much my dry skin has improved since I’ve used it.

Another vote for Cetaphil.

must. resist. temptation.

I dig the Aveeno line… there’s a foaming cleanser, but that’s a bit too harsh for me, so I use the other one, it’s more of a cream that fizzes when you add water. Forgot the name.

squeegee – Oh, go ahead. It’s not like we don’t know what you’re thinking…
