“I’m just a song & dance man goin’ from town to town, playin’ one night shows and country rodeos.” Possibly Australian.
Could it be this guy? Paul Kelly
The lyrics sound more American than Australian to me. Was it Bob Dylan?
I checked with my fellow Paul Kelly nerds, we’re fairly sure it’s not anything by him. Definitely doesn’t sound familar to me. What does the music sound like?

It is Australian, I can hear the second line running through my head and there a definite local accent. Although the first line does sound right … could you have two songs mixed up?
I have no idea who sings it as I’m not up with C&W music, sorry.
“Although the first line doesn’t sound right …” :wally
No but I might have the verses in the wrong place.
I’ve been listening to an Australian radio station at work, I’ll see if I can get the answer from them.
I don’t have an exact answer yet but I’m close. They just played the song, I did have the verses right and the guy’s name is something like Mike McClelland. Ring any bells?
I just heard from the radio station’s program director. He says it’s “Song & Dance Man” by Australian artist Mike McClellan and that I should be able to find it on a double CD of his called “Time and Time Again”.
This is indeed by Mike McClellan from his debut album “Ask any dancer”. The song is “Song and Dance Man” .
See the following link for more information on him.

This is probably the best resource on the web for Australian/New Zealand music information.
Thanks, Hook.
