can the \installshield installation information\ folder be safely deleted?

I tried to create a small partition to store my OS on, so that it could be wiped independent of my installed programs and data, but I’ve been running into problems in that Windows is always sticking crap on the drive without asking me and it’s filling up the limited amount of space quickly.

I have a folder called “Installshield Installation Information” which takes up over a gig, which is a lot of space when I’m trying to keep the system drive clean. The sub-folders are gibberish registry-like codes, and in each one is a setup.exe and various .cab files and such.

Are these just leftover extracted installers for programs that are installed elsewhere? Is it so badly designed that they leave the extracted installers, now done with their work, just sitting there indefinitely? If not, what purpose do they serve?

Is it safe to go ahead and delete that whole directory?

I think the folder stores UNinstall information too - so you’d find yourself unable to uninstall certain things cleanly through the Add/Remove Programs dialog, as well as through any uninstallers listed in the program menu.

Hmm, I’ll try moving the folder to another partition for now, then, and then copy it back if I ever need to uninstall everything. Hopefully it won’t break anything.
