Can the Lions go 0-16 again?

Now that they have won. I feel depressed because of it. I am surprised. The Lions are not a contender. They are just a poor team floundering around the bottom. A 19 game losing streak and counting was something. Now we got nothing. They were just a badly managed and coached team who had a long losing streak. They did not get the record. That at least was something to look forward to. Now what?
Unless they go 14 and 2. Then I deny saying any of this.

God Damn it.

Ouch, that is harsh.

The Redskins have an O-line that could be replaced by five random dance club bouncers, leprechauns for wide receivers, a running back that won’t practice and an owner who thinks he’s Napoleon.

Congratulations Lions. Next week you can try it against a real football team.

I miss Art Monk, Darrell Green, and Brian Mitchell.

Was it really better getting some occasional pity instead of pure contempt?

Now your team doesn’t qualify for sympathy anymore. They’re just bad. But that’s actually an improvement, isn’t it?

The team went from laughing stock to door mat. The organization, however, still deserves derision, even after replacing Millen.

Nope. We’ve been “just bad” for quite some time. Before Sunday, we stood a chance of continuing to be historically bad. Now we’re back to being just another joke.

And what really makes it depressing is that the cover of today’s Detroit Free Press was practically full page coverage devoted to how the Lions won a single football game. You would have thought we’d won the super bowl the way it was covered.

There’s really no pleasing some people. Buck up already. The team is, in theory, improving. And you don’t get any extra points for being historically bad anyway.

Winning a game only qualifies as an improvement because we went a season without winning any. Not sure the bar goes much lower. The victory was also against a team that appeared to my eyes to be every bit as bad as Detroit. Lastly, the one area I think they need to improve upon most, stupid penalties taken at bad times, wasn’t improved at all with Calvin Johnson’s 58 yard reception erasing penalty the most glaring. Lack of discipline has really been the one constant in the Lions era of mediocrity, and it’s what they need to fix more than any other problem.

All joking about the lousy Lions aside, all this was was an ugly victory by a bad team against a bad team. I consider improvement to be more than a slight increase in victory totals. I’d take a loss if it was a good loss where we didn’t give the game away.

I do not know if it was an ugly victory. it was blacked out. They had about 40, 000 at the game. I still have not seen them win since 2007.
