Can this fitbit be saved?

I (inadvertently) put my fitbit one tracker through the wash and it appears to be dead.

I’ve tried drying it out in a bowl of rice and recharging it as suggested by the fitbit help line, but that didn’t work.

Has anyone had any luck reviving a washed fitbit? I came to really like mine. It made forgetting things and having to run up and down the stairs a bunch of times seem productive as opposed to the first sign of dementia.

Depends which model it is. Some are more water resistant than others. That said, rumor has it that Fitbit will replace your fitbit for free if you lose it.

It’s a fitbit one tracker and it’s not supposed to get wet unlike some of the other models. Thanks for the link.

How old is it? I have a Fitbit One and, while the tracker itself was working fine, neither the app on my phone nor the dashboard on my computer were able to ‘see’ it after only a couple of months. I had no problem exchanging it for a new one which, several months on, is still working fine.

Quote from my wife: “Fitbit is amazing!” First she lost it, and they replaced it free. Then she dropped it, and would not charge any more, and they replaced that one too. They didn’t even ask us to mail the broken one back. She is one very satisfied customer.

I second the posts from others about Fitbit being amazing. they replaced my Fitbit one when I lost it. I didn’t want to push things and ask for another one when I lost the replacement. I got a Fitbit Force for Xmas (it has a watchband like form-factor so you should never lose it). Some people have skin reactions from this version, but I have not and I plan to keep mine.

Meanwhile, mine broke within the one year warranty period - yes, it was right at the end, but still within it - and I got a bunch of email runaround. I know some people have had great experiences. Mine was not and I won’t do business with them again. I switched to another tracker and have found I like their features better.

ETA: That said, my experience was apparently the exception rather than the rule. I know someone who put theirs in the freezer for a couple of days and swore that helped.
