Can this obviously lying nutjob torpedo Obama's campaign?

And even then, his college buddies can’t remember seeing him do it and they all say Obama’s drug experiences in college were pretty negligable.

I admit this is subjective but Obama just does not give off the air of an addict to me. I think the crack smoking allegation is even more implausible than the BJ allegation.

Slow down friend. I like Obama and if I voted I’d vote for him. I said I don’t think the mere idea that Obama has ever smoked crack, ever, is completely insane, as he admitted to other drug use. I also know nothing about him to let me know its not possible he prefers the company of the men. I also said this guy is not credible, but if the guy were a respected member of society who had acutal facts and specifics, it would be a different story altogether.

John Mace, if you knew he had hooked up with some random girl he met at a party, would that be OK?

His drug use was supposedly more frequent in HS, so I don’t know that his college buddies’ experience is all that relevant. But it sounds like cocaine was opportunistic since it was more expensive:

In 1999? Yes. Last year? No.

Not sure what the point of this thread is.

Why give the flaming asshole/troll mentioned in the OP the publicity he so clearly seeks? Doesn’t matter if it’s only negative publicity he gets from what he’s doing, it’s simply the publicity he is after. And I don’t see how any at all can do anything but damage to Obama.

I can understand that Dio did this in good faith – sort of as a preemptive strike against the possibility of yet another Swiftboating Special. But still, why even open the door to that possibility? I mean we (at least those of us that where here at the time and read/participated in the +/- 20 page train wreck)) know just how amenable to reason True Believers are once they latch on to a convenient meme to further their stranglehold of America, so, again, why even open that door?

Just don’t think it’s a good idea.

Ah, I get it now.

I did read the NYT story, Dio, and found it bizarre. That article made it sound like he was claiming to be a young James Frey, and in the context of the book, that isn’t what he was doing at all. He was talking about the path his life was headed down at that point, not saying he was an out of control drug addict. He might be guilty of overdramatizing it, but in light of what he actually said, the fact that few people saw him smoking up in college doesn’t prove anything. I forgot the fact that the Times wasn’t even talking about the same time period.
It was pretty weird to see them going after a guy by claiming he wasn’t a druggie. :stuck_out_tongue:

I didn’t fact check this but here’s a post from someone on another site:

*Larry claims: “I was in the Chicago area from November 3, 1999 thru November 8, 1999 to attend the graduation of my God son from the Great Lakes Navy Training Center outside Chicago.”

So, I looked up the graduation for the Great Lakes Navy Training Center for 1999, and nutjob Larry’s God son must have been pretty disappointed that he missed his graduation. The 1999 Great Lakes Navy Training Center graduation took place between October 17-18, as detailed in the travel diaryby these fine folks who actually attended that graduation: Maine Farmhouse Journal Entry, The Coming Of Winter, October 17-18, 1999. You were two weeks late, Larry*

I didn’t hear him mention the Navy Training school in his video. It’s less than 2 minutes long, btw.

It should be noted that there are a series videos, as per the OP, but only one was done by the real Larry Sinclair and the others are fakes. Maybe that was in one of the others. It’s actually kind of funny to read his comments on the pages with the fake videos…

Sinclair has done a couple of interviews on fringe radio shows too. Maybe he mentioned the NTC thing on one of those.

Not that it helps his credibility, but Recruit Training Command has graduations pretty much every week.

That’s true for RTC, but Great Lakes has both an RTC and an NTC.

From Wee Bairn’s cite:

Sounds like theirs was an RTC ceremony.

[shrug] He’s still full of shit.

Just to be clear, I think he is, too.

If there’s any truth to what the guy is saying, we’ll know in short order. Stuff like this doesn’t just lie dormant in this day and age unless it’s BS.

I actually find myself biting my tongue and agreeing with…of all people…Red Fury. While I KNOW that DtC meant well I think this should have been completely ignored. It is so obviously bullshit that all it helps is the wack job who is spouting it. I don’t even see a hint of this on Fox’s news site…and if they thought there was any traction at all it would be there I should think.

It’s BS DtC. Until and unless some real proof stuff is given take it for what it is…and obvious attempt to stab Obama in the back that is never going to get any traction at all…except with those who wouldn’t vote for the man even if Jesus came down a bestowed a blessing on him with angels singing and dancing around his feet.

I’m not a lawyer, but doesn’t Sinclair cop to something a lot like extortion in his own lawsuit? He says he contacted Obama’s people to demand he admit to their goings-on, and said he would go public if they did not do so.

He also admit that the news networks showed no interest in his story.

'actly. And if you’ve seen the video you might have noticed from the posting date that this a-hole came out with this steaming pile over three weeks ago. Now, like you say, in this day and age what are the odds that if there was an ounce of truth to this scat we wouldn’t have heard about it through one MSM outlet or another? Hell I can think of one that would give its virtual left nut to get their nasty little paws on something like this.

So zero, nada, zilch, bupkus from any of them in that time span should tell us about all there is to “know” about this crapola.

Sinclair secretly works for Obama. It’s a strategy to shore up the gay vote.

Makes as much sense as any other explanation.

It’s unlikely any political ammunition the right wing has against either of the Democratic opponents would be unleashed until the timing is right. It isn’t a matter of suppression; it’s a matter or timing.

If the Republicans had any damning material on either Ms Clinton or Mr Obama, the strategically correct thing to do would be to wait for the nominee to be named, and then decide the best timing vis a vis the actual election.

I guess the real question is, “Does the guy have a stained blue dress”?
