Can using hard drugs cause brain damage over time?

Don’t all psychoactive drugs cross the blood-brain barrier? (Alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, NSAIDs, antidepressants, to name a few…) The study seems to be about potential damage to the BBB caused by amphetamines.

Yes, I am sorry. What I meant to say is that there is evidence the amphetamines make the BBB more permeable. When that happens and other drugs or compounds are introduced they may now be able to cross the more permeable barrier and cause changes.
