Of course, if the OP gets his way, he’ll have the guns, control and money, so we’ll end up hating him. I’m not sure he’s thought this thing all the way through.
This post does make me wonder about something I noticed whilst cyber-socializing on Facebook. It’s a phenomenon that’s oddly similar to what happened to me when I smoked pot as a youngster. (Hear me out.)
Basically, people that I found intolerable or annoying when I was sober were more interesting or fun when I (or they, or maybe both of us) was/were stoned, or sometimes the reverse would be true. Not across the board, just sometimes. Facebook is kinda like that-again, just in some cases, not across the board. But often enough to be worth remarking upon, I find that folks I never really wanted to spend a lot of time with in real life become close Facebook chums, and some of my good real-life friends have really annoying posting habits that make me avoid them on-line.
Finally, I have also noticed that a lot of the folks that kinda push my whatta-fuckwad button online are people for whom English is a second language, acquired sometime after adolescence.
I am not trying to insult foreigners here by comparing them to the OP, by the way. I’m just wondering–if you imagine that the OP is simply not overly experienced with communicating in English, or maybe assume that he/she was reeeally stoned when they posted–or maybe both–does the weirdly self-righteous incoherence become less annoying, more forgivable? Or am I just feeling overly charitable this morning?
Hmm…and let me clarify, since my post sounds sorta bigoted upon re-reading–I really do not consider foreigners to be more likely to be fuckwads. It is just easier to misinterpret a person’s manner/temperament/etc as kinda dickish when you have to contend with the ESOL-barrier on top of the not-communicating-face-to-face-barrier that is present in all on-line communications.
To quote Heather McNamara: did that sound bitchy?
You should know by now that the SDMB mods are very lenient when it comes to actually out-and-out trolling and are much more hardline on things they perceive that run afoul of the “Don’t be a jerk” rule.
Oh no, I don’t understand the content either. But in the past, when people have criticized LG’s writing, s/he has taken it as a disagreement with his/her content, and to be fair, since I can’t figure out what s/he is going on about, I really can’t criticize it. It might be really smart.
But I doubt it, since I feel like someone really smart could put together a more coherent rant.
I know someone who is schizophrenic and he says that sometimes the thoughts and voices in his head become too much and he just has to get some of it out. I’ve told him he makes no sense and he said he knows but he just has to get it out, so he blogs and goes to various websites and writes thing very similar to Lurking Guest, even in the same format.
I don’t think he is a troll, I think he’s seriously mentally ill.
