Can you die if....

Can you die if you lose half of a finger and recieve NO aid. Will you bleed to death or will it “clot up” on its own? Simple, to the point, with minimal misspellings I hope.

Deadman

I guess it depends on what finger, how it’s lost, and how well you naturally “clot”. Some people have more platelets (or something) than others. I also think a good chunk of it is weather (doesn’t blood clot easier in cold weather?)

In any case, I would think it’s possible to bleed to death by losing a finger, though the threat wouldn’t be as great if you sliced open an artery or listened to a Britney Spears CD (the noise makes your ears bleed).

Although the best advice is to not cut off your finger… or, if you do, get it treated ASAP.

Hm…field trip…

It depends what you mean by “NO aid.” Is grabbing your stub and yelling “ow ow ow!” aid? What about wrapping it in a cloth or somethin?

The first instict you should have if you cut off a finger is to grab what’s left, which will slow the bleeding while the blood clots. Even if the blood does clot in time, there is an extremely high risk of infection. I’d WAG that you’re more likely to die from gangrene than blood loss.
