While we’re on the topic of abbreviations . . . what the heck is “WAG”? I’m usually pretty good at figuring them out based on context, but that one seems to elude me.

DH: usually “Dear Husband”
WAG: Wild-Ass Guess
It was funny, the first time it was used. And the second. And the 1,043rd. It’s worn very thin, after better than four years of use, and there’s official discouragement of using it (Our Uncle Beer started a Pit thread on the subject).
Other catchphrases that are getting threadbare include “When come back, bring pie” and “All your base…”
This is not to say that they cannot be used once in a while in a very witty fashion, as in “To produce a hyperlink, do the following:
[ol][li] Type in an opening bracket[/li][li]Type in the characters URL=” (and don’t forget the opening quotation mark)[/li][li]Greet Opal[/li]…[/ol]
But even such usages are getting a little thin and strained.
Since this turned into the explain the acronym thread: What does YMMV mean? Judging from its use, I think it means something similar to “IMHO”, but I am not entirely sure (in that case, MMV could mean “my modest view”, but the Y still escapes me).
