Watching a World’s Stupidest Criminals-type clip show, I saw footage of a perp being brought into the police station for some crime or another. Some meth drops out of his pocket and onto the floor, and immediately the perp falls to the floor and starts licking it up.
Is he going to get high from this? Can meth make you high from swallowing, or does it have to be smoked?
Crystal meth can be snorted and absorbed through nasal tissues, though I hear it is painful. So I assume it could be absorbed by the tongue and gums also. However he may have just been getting rid of the evidence.
Meth can be smoked, inhaled (snorted), mainlined (injected into a vein), popped (injected under the skin, not in a vein), and ingested.
Meth is made in a variety of ways, with a variety of ingredients (save the primary active ingredient), that result in types of meth - powdered, “glass” crystals, a slimy green “snot,” etc.
Eating any form will get you high. But it’s not the preferred administration method because it can take 20 mins+ to get into your system. Addicts tend to want their fix NOW.
Swallowing evidence is a common tactic, but runs the real risk of overdose.
Believe it or not - meth is actually an approved drug for treatment of ADHD. It can be taken in pill form (as it is for ADHD). Very few doctors will prescribe it.
As thatguyjeff pointed out - the amount of time it takes to get in your bloodstream effects the “high”.
Nicotine that is smoked in the form of a cigarette will get someone a much better buzz than gum or a patch.
OxyContin is a controlled release form of oxycodone. Addicts prefer the oxycodone version as it gets into the blood faster. At some point addicts will start injecting it.
If YOU were to take meth orally - it would probably get you high. For a true addict - it would most likely only help stave off withdrawal symptoms.
Also - I’m not sure if the way the crystal meth is produced will effect stomach absorption, but in theory - you will still get it in your blood stream and it will still have an effect.
Stupid way to get rid of evidence. Wouldn’t they just do a blood test and find him high on meth that way? Even if they couldn’t nail him for possession (although they could probably do that anyway), they could nail him for using.
